Joy & Civility to All
I'm on a mission to act more civilly. The world doesn't make this easy, but all the more reason we all need to make our best effort to act properly. I'm taking an example from my wife Cari: do the right thing simply because it is the right thing. So let's all try to pass along happiness instead of hate, a smile instead of a curse. you get the picture. I need all the help I can get. BTW: if you see me not being true to my mission, please tell me. to paraphrase Neil Young "you're just spittin' into the wind, you don't know it, but you are. And there's nothing like a friend that will tell you when you are spittin' into the wind". So be a real friend and tell me when I'm goofin up.
For several years my Aunt and Uncle hosted a "Civility Dinner". My Aunt Patsy has shared one of the invitations with me, and I have posted it below (please note that the date is 1996, but it is still rings true today). Maybe it's a tradition we all should follow.
One of my heros is Mattie Stepanek (1990-2004) who wrote the poem "For Our World" on 9/11/01. He was a young man wise beyond his years. I only hope that someday I can be half as wise.
Civility Matters.... It is the acts of kindness, both large and small, that bond a society together. Please share your thoughts and/or stories on Civility in the forum below. Thanks.
